The Gargoyle is a flexible creature, taking advantage of the strengths of its two allied colors. Blue gives the flying ability at low cost, while its white component allows a quick toughness boost--at the expense of flight. Remember you can declare that you're blocking a flying creature with the Gargoyle. Then, as a fast effect, after all blocks have been declared but before damage is assigned, make your Leering Gargoyle a 0/4 ground creature. The block is still legal.
