This creature enchantment provides a reasonable defense, and has the added advantage of being a "cantrip," a card that replaces itself. Most spells have two costs: the mana requirement and the need to use the card itself. If Incinerate cost ![[2]](images/Symbol_2_mana.gif) ![[Red]](images/red_mana.gif) , it would not be very good. But giving a permanent the ability "![[2]](images/Symbol_2_mana.gif) ![[Red]](images/red_mana.gif) : deal 3 damage" would be awesome. Why? Because the latter doesn't cost a card each time you want to play the effect. Cantrips, like Ritual of Steel, don't cost you a card. They just cost mana and time. But that's another issue.
