A key to good deck construction is having an even flow of spells at increasing mana requirements. A deck with all six- and seven-mana creatures often loses quickly, while a deck with all one- and two-mana creatures has trouble in the later game. An ongoing problem has been what to do at three mana. Pearled Unicorn? Scathe Zombies? In the past, three-mana creatures have been pathetic. With Gibbering Hyenas (along with Foratog and Femeref Archers) in Mirage, players have access to three-mana green creatures of high quality.
