 Feral Shadow is one of the many "weenie" creatures in Mirage . Weenie decks have many advantages: the ability to summon creatures early; an earlier opportunity to cast summons and other spells in the same turn; and a lower land requirement, thus increasing the chance of drawing a spell.

The primary enemy of the weenie strategy is time. Eventually your opponent will summon creatures too, probably bigger than yours. Weenie decks typically need breakthrough cards, such as Blinding Light for white weenie and Nocturnal Raid for black weenie, to finish off the opponent quickly.
