The People of the Mtenda

"I have a particular fondness for the people of the Mtenda Wilds, for if anyone understands the value of a tale well told, it is them. Where those of the other plains have found a cool rock to call home and a field to plow, many of the Mtenda remain wanderers, parting the elephant grass to drive their herds or guiding their people from a dry spring waterhole to a teeming summer one. And unlike so many of us, there is little they do in order to do something more; every act is its own end. They are a people who have learned how to learn about freedom. Jojo has inherited much of their wisdom--and their patience with the world."
