| "A street fool was once commanded to come to court and entertain a cruel noble and the noble's family with an exhibition of juggling. Sadly, this noble was well known for having entertainers put to death for failing to please. The fool, being foolish, whittled his juggling balls from the wood of the btumu tree, much to the horror of his fellow fools. Of course, the balls were quite oily and slippery, and the fool dropped them over and over during his performance at court.
"When the noble learned that the fool had made his balls from the btumu, he was impressed by the arrogance of it. 'Only the best juggler in all Jamuraa would be so vain,' the noble said, and sent the street fool home. When the fool's friends heard about the performance, they asked him, 'Do you think you are the best juggler in Jamuraa?' The juggler answered, 'No, I'm quite certain I'm the worst. But I am an excellent whittler.' And now you know why we say, 'The best schemes are whittled of btumu.'"
